Meet Othman John

Othman John
John was born on Feb.7th, 1994. He is in the seventh grade class of Rhotia Primary School in Rhotia, Tanzania.
His father’s name is John Josephat, and his mother’s name is Hadija Shabani. Othman has one brother, Omari,19, and one sister, Zaina, 4 years old. They live in a home 1 ½ km from Rhotia primary school with their grandmother.
To feed the family, they depend on farming on 2 hectares (about 5 acres) where they grow maize and beans. They don’t grow enough to sell to pay for expenses, sometimes they need help from relatives or from the government. Othman helps with weeding, harvesting and other domestic jobs.
Othman is struggling in school, but works hard in Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies and Swahili. For fun he plays football. When he finishes the primary school at the end of 2008-2009 school year, he would like to attend secondary school. He hopes to enroll in higher education and enter University College and become a tour driver.
He would like to attend computer training class because he wants to learn about other people and many other things of interest on the Internet. Othman is interested in America and would like to know more about the country and the people.
Othman has started computer training in Project Rhotia’s computer Lab.
